Who are we?
The Geriatric Medicine Stream is a network of SHPA members who provide pharmacy services to older patients in a range of settings: acute medical and surgical units, subacute aged care, rehabilitation, residential aged care and other inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory or primary care settings. It also includes members who are involved in geriatric medicine teaching and research.
Why join?
Join the Geriatric Medicine Interest Group if you want to access our network of geriatric medicine experts and peers through the Geriatric Medicine Discussion Forum. You don’t need to specialise in geriatric medicine to join the Geriatric Medicine Interest Group.

If you are an experienced geriatric medicine pharmacist, why not apply to join the Geriatric Medicine Practice Group. Belonging to the Geriatric Medicine Practice Group gives you all the benefits of the Geriatric Medicine Interest Group, plus opportunities to support members of the Geriatric Medicine Interest Group and contribute to important SHPA work relating to geriatric medicine – including Standard of Practice in Geriatric Medicine for Pharmacy Services, SHPA submissions relevant to geriatric medicine, and SHPA geriatric medicine education.
Members of the Geriatric Medicine Practice Group are also eligible to nominate for election to the Geriatric Medicine Leadership Committee.
