Introduction to hospital pharmacy training course

The SHPA Introduction to hospital pharmacy training course is purposefully designed to meet the needs of pharmacists, embarking on the transition from community to hospital pharmacy practice or who have recently commenced working hospital pharmacy.  The course has been developed in consultation with Directors of Pharmacy across Australia.  It comprises of four key self-directed modules that are essential for rapid skill development:

  • Overview of hospital pharmacy practice,
  • Medication management in a clinical setting,
  • Medicines information and medication safety, and
  • Communication.

An assessment follows the completion of the modules; participants receive a certificate of achievement upon successful completion which can be included in applications for hospital pharmacy positions.   It is a valuable addition to a CV for anyone making the transition to hospital pharmacy practice.
